Prostate Cancer and Healing: Standing in the Authority of the Word

A diagnosis of prostate cancer often brings with it a heavy cloud of uncertainty and physical challenge. You may be supporting someone who is currently navigating symptoms like frequent or difficult urination, a persistent sense of pressure, or deep discomfort in the lower back and hips. These physical markers can weigh heavily on a person’s spirit, but it is important to remember that a strong spirit will sustain a man through his infirmity.

Healing is not merely a historical event we read about; it is a current reality provided by the “I AM.” When God revealed His redemptive name as Jehovah-Rapha, He didn’t say “I Was the Lord who healed you.” He said, “I Am.” To believe that health is not for God’s people today is to attempt to change the very nature of the One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

The Authority of the Word

We see a profound example of how healing operates through the account of the Centurion. He was a man who understood authority because of his occupation; he knew that when a command is given by a superior, it must be obeyed. He recognized that Jesus held supreme authority over all things, including sickness. His faith was so robust that he realized Jesus didn’t even need to be physically present to effect a change. He simply needed the Word to be spoken.

For someone facing prostate cancer, the “word” of a clinical diagnosis can feel final. While we respect the work of doctors and the natural reports they provide, we must be careful not to be affected by any voice more than the voice of God. If we attend only to the natural reports, our spirits can become weak and drained. We need the nourishment of the Truth to remain stirred up. Faith is not a passive waiting; it is a firm grasping of the will of the Lord.

Scripture 1: Hebrews 13:8

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”

Redemption from the Curse

It is vital to understand that sickness is part of the curse from which we have been redeemed. If Jesus went to such great lengths to hang on a Cross and become accursed to set us free, it cannot be His will for us to remain bound by it. He “tasted death for every man,” and that sacrifice was a perfect remedy for the whole person—spirit, soul, and body.

Just as a sinner must accept the promise of salvation as true before they feel the joy of being saved, a person seeking health must often accept the promise as true before the physical feelings align. Symptoms and challenges will attempt to wear you down, but you have been given authority. You can choose to get in the “middle of the high road,” recognizing that while challenges are real, you have been empowered to overcome them. We are not just heirs of a promise; we are in a better covenant established upon better promises.

Scripture 2: Galatians 3:13

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.”

Removing the Barrier of Condemnation

Faith has a primary enemy: condemnation. It is the “confidence killer.” If a person feels unworthy, or if they are harboring guilt and shame from the past, it chokes off their ability to believe that God hears them. This is why we often see spiritual restoration and physical restoration going hand in hand. To have the confidence to act on the Word—to “get up and walk”—one must first be convinced that they are clean and right before God.

The blood of the Lamb is the only thing that can purge a guilty conscience. Once a person realizes they are “made right by the Blood,” the curse has no legal right to remain in their life. They can then look up with total confidence and say, “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed.” This confidence allows the life of God—His peace, purity, and strength—to flow through the body as a preserver of health.

Scripture 3: Jeremiah 17:14

“Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”

Acting on the Promise

Many people believe they are waiting on God to move, but often, God is waiting for us to act on what He has already said. When God provides a promise, it is like a seed. For that seed to do its work, it must be put into the “good ground” of a heart that gives it diligent attention. We must refuse “old wives’ fables” and the tradition that says God uses sickness to teach us lessons. You will not find that anywhere in the ministry of Jesus. He never turned anyone away, and He never said, “I won’t.”

If you are encouraging someone today, remind them that they are “loaded with benefits.” Even if the natural world says a condition is hopeless or has reached a final stage, we serve the “Self-Existent One.” He is the strength of our life. Restoration may be a process that happens over time, or it may be a “now you see it, now you don’t” miracle, but the end result is always the same: wholeness.

Let the trumpet of “Jubilee” sound in your heart. Reclaim what has been stolen. Whether through the laying on of hands or the simple, quiet confidence in the Word, God’s heart is to make people whole. Stand firm, be faithful to where you are stationed, and expect the power of the Spirit to manifest health in every cell of the body.

Pneumonia and Healing Prayer: Breathing in the Life of the Word

The physical challenge of pneumonia can feel like a heavy weight upon the chest, making every breath a struggle and sapping the body of its natural vitality. Symptoms such as a persistent, deep cough, sharp chest pain when breathing, high fever, and extreme exhaustion can leave a person feeling fragile. When the very act of breathing—the most basic sign of life—becomes difficult, it is natural for the heart to seek a higher source of strength.

The Divine Authority to Overcome

When we look at the ministry of Jesus, we see a consistent pattern of restoration. Healing was not a side-issue or a rare occurrence; it was a vital, central part of His work on earth. Jesus didn’t just walk the earth as a spectator to human suffering; He moved with a divine anointing to reverse the effects of disease. More importantly, He did not keep this power to Himself. He delegated His authority to those who follow Him, giving them the right to stand against all manner of sickness.+1

This authority is not based on human merit or religious performance, but on the finished work of the Atonement. Just as there is provision for the soul to be delivered from sin, there is equal provision for the body to be delivered from disease. To believe in one is to logically believe in the other, as both are branches of the same Gospel. If you are facing the congestion and inflammation of pneumonia, realize that you have a legal right to health. Sickness is not a “love-token” from God; it is a work of the enemy that Jesus came to destroy.+1

Scripture 1: Ezekiel 37:5

“Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live.”

The Power of the Spoken Word

If you want to see a different result in your body, you must align your words with the life-giving truths of the Word of God. Life and death are held in the power of the tongue. It is easy to speak about how “bad” the fever is or how “tight” the lungs feel, but to see a shift, we must speak what God says about our health. Faith is not merely waiting for God to move “in His own good time”; faith is reaching out and taking what He offers now.

Consider the example of Abraham. He did not ignore the reality of his physical condition—he knew the “deadness” of the situation according to nature—but he refused to let those facts become the final authority. He weighed the difficulties, but he believed God anyway. When the symptoms of pneumonia try to dictate your future, refuse to let them have the last word. God is the one who binds up what is broken and strengthens what is sick.

Scripture 2: Proverbs 18:21

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

Divine Sap and Unbroken Fellowship

To be a healthy branch, you must stay connected to the Vine. The life-giving “sap” of the Holy Spirit flows most freely when we take time for quiet fellowship and communion. It is in these moments of stillness that the link between your physical body and God’s restorative power is strengthened. Do not look at this time as a duty or a tax on your day, but as a vital necessity for your recovery.

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, that same Spirit is currently working to “quicken” or give life to your mortal flesh. This is a present-tense reality. Just as breath entered the dry bones in the valley, God is causing breath to enter your lungs. He is the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, and nothing—not even the most stubborn infection—is too hard for Him.

Scripture 3: Psalm 91:16

“With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.”

Resisting the Prolonged Attack

There is a common theological mistake that suggests God wants people to remain sick to teach them a lesson. If this were true, Jesus would have been acting against the Father’s will every time He healed a multitude. Instead, we see that He never turned anyone away. He healed all who came to Him, proving that wholeness is the desire of heaven.

You have been redeemed from the curse of the law. This means you have been redeemed from things that are prolonged, grievous, and lingering. If pneumonia is trying to take root and drag on, you must resist it. Stand against it and say, “No! This has no legal right to work in my life.” You are not an orphan fighting this alone; you are a child of the Most High, equipped with the power of the Spirit to demonstrate the Gospel through your own recovery.

A Harvest of Health

Every promise in the Bible is a seed. When you take a promise of healing and allow it to germinate in your heart, it will eventually bring forth a harvest that matches its nature. Just as one kernel of wheat can eventually feed a nation, one verse of Scripture can transform your physical state.

Do not be discouraged by “community unbelief” or the opinions of those who say the age of miracles is past. Those “red letters” in the Bible—the words of Jesus—trump human ignorance and religious confusion every time. He is the Lord who heals you. He is the one who increases strength to those who have no might. Take your stand on the Atonement today, let the breath of the Spirit fill your lungs, and expect to live out the full number of your days in strength and health.

Parkinson’s Disease and Healing Prayer: Reclaiming Your Physical Freedom

Parkinson’s disease often feels like an uninvited guest that slowly attempts to take control of your physical freedom. It may begin with a subtle tremor in a hand or a slight stiffness in the legs that makes walking feel like a heavy chore. For many, the symptoms manifest as a “mask-like” expression, a slowing of movement (bradykinesia), or a loss of balance. In the natural realm, it can feel as though your body is no longer obeying the instructions of your mind.

However, the Word of God reveals that there is a power much greater than any neurological disorder. Just as Jesus looked at a man with a withered, non-functioning hand and restored it to wholeness, He is looking at you today. He does not see you as a victim of a disease; He sees you as a child who has been ransomed and redeemed.

Overcoming the Silence of Unbelief

In the account of Zacharias and Elisabeth, we see a couple who were righteous and blameless, yet they lived for years with unanswered prayer. Zacharias was a minister, yet he had become so accustomed to his “barren” situation that when an angel finally announced the miracle, he responded with unbelief. As a result, he was struck dumb—unable to speak—until the miracle was accomplished.

Sometimes, when we have dealt with a chronic condition like Parkinson’s for a long time, we can inadvertently develop an “area of unbelief.” We pray, but we don’t truly expect the shaking to stop or the stiffness to leave. But notice that it was the baptism of the Holy Spirit and obedience that finally opened Zacharias’ mouth to praise. The Holy Spirit is a key to combating the unbelief that creeps in during a long trial. God is not “fooling around”; His Word is supreme, and His power is available to reach into the very nerves and brain cells that need a divine touch.

Scripture 1: Matthew 17:20

“…If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.”

The Seed of the Word

In every seed, there are infinite possibilities. A tiny kernel of wheat can eventually feed an entire nation if it is allowed to grow. The promises of God are “imperishable seeds.” When you take a verse of Scripture—such as “By His stripes I am healed”—and allow it to germinate in your heart, it grows into a harvest of health that is a million times bigger than the seed itself.

The Bible says that every seed brings forth “after its kind.” If you plant seeds of doubt, you harvest fear. But if you plant the Word of God, which is “health to all your flesh,” you harvest restoration. Parkinson’s might try to tell you that your body is failing, but the Word of God is a living force that “effectually worketh” in those who believe. Do not just “try” faith; gladly receive the Word as the final authority over your central nervous system.

Scripture 2: Proverbs 4:22

“For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”

Taking Authority Over the Tremor

Jesus gave His followers power and authority over all manner of sickness and disease. He didn’t say, “I give you power, but don’t use it because I might want the disease to rule over you.” That would be like giving a person a high-powered rifle in the presence of a grizzly bear and telling them not to shoot.

Parkinson’s is not the will of God for you. If we look at the ministry of Jesus, we never find a single instance where He told someone it wasn’t the right time for their healing, or that they should remain sick to learn a lesson. He “healed them all.” He “healed them, everyone.” Whether it was casting out a spirit that caused torment or restoring a broken body, His response was always the same: wholeness.

You have been given the authority to resist the symptoms. When the tremors start or the stiffness sets in, you don’t have to be afraid. Jesus has already conquered the forces behind sickness. Stand up in the power of the Spirit and the authority of His Name. When a child of God resists, the enemy has only one option: to flee.

One Step into the Light

If you have been living within sight of God’s promises but have not been enjoying them, today is the day for a “sudden conversion” of your perspective. You don’t have to spend years repenting or trying to “earn” your way back into God’s best. The prodigal son simply made a decision to go home, and his father met him with open arms.

Put yourself, just as you are—with all the weakness or frustration of your current condition—into the bosom of your Father. God will deliver you. It is only one step out of the darkness of a diagnosis and into the light of His grace. Say, “Father, I believe Your love for me is greater than this disease!”

Scripture 3: Psalm 91:16

“With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.”

The Way of Restoration

Redemption is synonymous with Calvary. Christ redeemed us from the entire curse of the law, and disease is undeniably part of that curse. If you are a child of God, you are not under the law, but under grace. Therefore, you are not required to remain under the curse’s symptoms.

It is just as wrong for a believer to be held prisoner by a disease after they have been proven “innocent” by the blood of Jesus as it would be to keep a man in prison after he was cleared of all charges. Your “charge” was dropped at the Cross. Your nervous system belongs to God, and He is the one who “girds you with strength.”

Expect the “sap” of the Holy Spirit to flow into your limbs today. Believe for the “mini-quickening”—that moment where the life of God touches the physical flesh. You are not meant to have panic attacks in the middle of the night over your health; you have been given a peace that passes all understanding. Rise to the challenge, act on your faith, and watch how the Good Shepherd seeks out His sheep to bind up what was broken.
