REMOVE THE RULES: How to turn the rules into suggestions. Why do you react when asked to do something? Do you want a happy home? In this book I use my wife and our marriage as an example. Lorna and I are now a happily married couple. We found the rules and threw them out of our house. We found a new sense of freedom. The source of all anger is a broken rule. Turn that rule into a suggestion and watch the peace come into your home. Brisbane, Australia. Tony Egar.
“Tony has always been fascinated by the effect believing has on our lives. After years of reading books and going to conferences he has found the effect was temporary. His personal belief is that we have a believing switch somewhere within us and if we can get it turned on; everything works, but when it is turned off nothing works. This is his journey to find that switch and turn it on”.
When Lorna enters a room the love of God comes with her. Her early life explains some of this. Something about her is special beyond normal understanding. I have watched her interact with people for more than 35yrs. This invisible feeling moves some to tears of joy, others just want to hug her and tell their deepest secrets. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to write her story.
A GIFT OF HEALING: Receive your healing as a seed Kindle Edition
Healing grows like a plant. In scripture the Lord likens the kingdom of God to the planting of a grain of mustard seed. It grew and became a tree. On another occasion he describes the growth in a slightly different way and says, “first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.” The nature of the kingdom is to grow from being small to being fully developed. Divine healing is a part of the kingdom of God. That is what Jesus meant when he said, “Heal the sick and say, the kingdom of God has come near to you.” The nature of the kingdom is to grow. Where there is faith, the essential nature of divine healing is to increase. Once you have been prayed for, you believe the prayer has worked. Believe you have received your healing in the form of a seed.
Scriptural Promises for Kidney Function and Vitality
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a long-term condition where the kidneys do not work effectively. In its early stages, CKD may go unnoticed—many people have no idea they are even ill until it progresses. It’s usually detected through blood and urine tests that reveal how well your kidneys are filtering waste. But God is not surprised by what sneaks up on us. Even when a diagnosis catches us unaware, the Lord is already present with healing in His wings.
The symptoms of advanced kidney disease can be disheartening: tiredness that lingers like a heavy fog… swollen ankles, feet, or hands caused by fluid your body can’t process… shortness of breath as your strength wanes… nausea that gnaws at your ability to eat and live freely… even blood in the urine, a sign that something sacred and vital is under threat. But take heart, beloved. These are not the end of your story—they are the place where God’s story of healing can begin.
God Sees You
In Genesis 16:13, Hagar—lost, weary, and rejected—gave God a name: El Roi, “the God who sees me.” When you’re struggling with CKD or any chronic illness, it can feel like no one truly sees how tired you are, how much effort it takes just to get through the day. But God sees. He sees your swollen hands and feet. He sees your weariness. He knows the nights when nausea keeps you awake, the days when the fear of blood in your urine weighs heavy on your mind. And still, He remains your Healer.
“For I am the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26). This is not a hollow promise. It is a covenant. Healing may come in stages, through miracles or medicine, through prayer or persistence—but the Lord is committed to restoring His children. He does not abandon the sick or weary.
Your Body is God’s Temple
Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 6:19, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?” This is more than a poetic idea—it is a truth that should awaken courage within you. Your body, even in its weakened state, is still holy ground. CKD may attack your kidneys, but it cannot remove the Spirit of God from within you. Your temple may feel cracked—but the glory of God can still dwell there.
Even when CKD seems to progress, know this: healing doesn’t only mean instant restoration. It means God walks with you, strengthens you, uplifts you. It means His presence becomes your medicine. He partners with doctors, with care teams, with every wise intervention—because healing is His mission, in every form.
But don’t forget to nourish your soul as you care for your body.
Jesus Carried Your Sickness
Isaiah 53:4-5 tells us: “Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering… by his wounds we are healed.” When Jesus went to the cross, He didn’t only carry your sin—He carried your sickness too. He bore it so you wouldn’t have to bear it alone. There is no shame in being sick, but there is power in knowing that you’re not condemned to remain that way.
Speak healing over your body. Even when your kidneys are not functioning at their best, speak life. Say aloud: “By His stripes, I am healed. I am not forgotten. My body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. God’s power is at work in me. I will recover. I will rise.”
Faith and Wisdom Can Work Together
It’s not faithless to follow a doctor’s advice. In fact, it’s an act of stewardship. God gives wisdom to medical professionals. He created the body and gave humans the insight to help heal it. But never let medical information be your final authority—let it be a tool, while God’s Word remains your truth.
CKD is not your identity. It’s a diagnosis. But your identity is child of God, heir of promise, healed by the blood of Jesus, strengthened by the Spirit.
Psalm 103:2-3 says, “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.” All your diseases. That includes CKD. That includes every tired cell, every swollen limb, every hidden pain. All means all.
Be Encouraged in the Waiting
Sometimes healing comes gradually. Sometimes it’s supernatural and quick. Other times, it unfolds in the daily grind—through small improvements, consistent medical care, and quiet faith. But through it all, you are not alone.
Isaiah 40:29 declares: “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” That strength is available to you today. Not just strength to be healed, but strength to endure, to believe, to hope when it would be easier to despair.
When you feel breathless, tired, or overwhelmed—breathe in this truth: God is with me. He has not forsaken me. Healing is working in my body now.
Your Future is Not Cancelled
CKD does not have the final say over your future. The Lord declares in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you… plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” That future includes healing. That future includes joy. That future includes a testimony of God’s power even in your weakest places.
Declare healing. Partner with wisdom. Surround yourself with truth. Let Scripture fill your home, your thoughts, your lips. Let prayer be your companion. And remember—God is still the Healer.
Your kidneys may be challenged, but your spirit is strong. Your symptoms may be real, but His promises are greater. You are not forgotten. You are deeply loved. And you are being healed.
“I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,” declares the Lord. (Jeremiah 30:17) Let this be your anchor, today and always.

As we journey through this season of growth and reflection, I wanted to share with you an inspiring story that speaks to perseverance, faith, and the power of overcoming challenges. It’s a story of a young woman named Kendra, from our very own Columbia, Maryland, who faced obstacles head-on and emerged stronger than she ever imagined.
Kendra, a passionate and determined woman, had always been curious about rock climbing. The idea of climbing mountains, literally and figuratively, intrigued her. But like many of us when we’re faced with new opportunities, she wasn’t sure if rock climbing was the right path for her. She wrestled with the decision for months, unsure whether she was cut out for such an intense and physically demanding activity. However, as she shared her thoughts with her family, they were a constant source of encouragement. They reminded her that no matter the challenge, God had given her the strength to pursue her passions.
Kendra’s story is a beautiful example of what happens when we step out of our comfort zones and trust God’s plan for us, even when we are unsure. She eventually decided to give rock climbing a try. She spent months learning the ropes—both literally and figuratively—training in a local gym, slowly building her confidence and skill. She had to choose between bouldering, which is a form of rock climbing done on shorter walls, or sport climbing, which involves climbing longer routes with the aid of fixed anchors. After much consideration, Kendra chose sport climbing, believing it would be a better fit for her.
But as we all know, the path to success is rarely smooth. One fateful afternoon, while climbing at a local gym, Kendra made a mistake during a particularly intense session. She lost her footing and fell, landing hard. It was a devastating moment for her. I think we can all relate to times when we face setbacks that leave us feeling discouraged. But instead of giving in to fear or frustration, Kendra chose to persevere. She refused to let that fall define her journey.
The Bible reminds us in Hebrews 12:1, “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Kendra’s response to her fall was a testament to this scripture. She picked herself up, brushed off the disappointment, and continued training with even more determination. Her faith in God and her passion for climbing helped her push through the pain and fear. As time went on, Kendra not only became proficient at sport climbing but began coaching younger climbers at the local gym. She found joy in helping others overcome their own challenges and improve their climbing skills.
Kendra’s coaching journey wasn’t without its challenges, but she faced them with a heart full of faith. Through her guidance, her students excelled. Many of them qualified for national climbing competitions. Kendra’s story was beginning to make an impact beyond her local gym. It was proof that when we align our passions with God’s purpose for our lives, extraordinary things happen.
Just when Kendra thought her year couldn’t get any more fulfilling, she received an invitation to attend a prestigious climbing summit. This was a momentous occasion for her. But little did she know that this event would lead to an even greater surprise. At the summit, she was approached by a representative from an international climbing team. They had heard about Kendra’s success as a coach and invited her to join them for a special project that would take her climbing to new heights. This unexpected opportunity was the culmination of Kendra’s hard work, perseverance, and unwavering faith in God’s plan.
Reflecting on Kendra’s story, I am reminded of the powerful message found in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Kendra didn’t rely on her own strength alone. She trusted that God would give her the strength she needed, even in moments of doubt. Through prayer, patience, and perseverance, she achieved things she never thought possible. It’s a testament to the fact that with God by our side, there is no challenge too great for us to overcome.
As we look forward to the year ahead, I encourage each of you to take a step of faith in your own life. Whether it’s pursuing a new dream, overcoming a personal setback, or helping others achieve their goals, trust that God will give you the strength and wisdom to succeed. Like Kendra, you may face challenges along the way, but remember the words of Isaiah 41:10: “Do not be afraid, for I am with you.” God’s presence is with us in every step we take.
Perhaps you are in a place right now where you are uncertain about which path to take. Maybe you are standing at the edge of something new and unfamiliar, just as Kendra was when she first stepped into the world of rock climbing. If that’s you, I encourage you to trust God’s leading, take a step of faith, and know that He will equip you for whatever lies ahead.
As we close, I’d like to leave you with a final thought. Sometimes the greatest rewards come not from avoiding failure, but from pushing through it with perseverance. Kendra’s journey reminds us that even when we fall, we can rise again with strength and purpose. And when we do, we will be ready for the opportunities that God has prepared for us.
May God bless you all as you pursue your own journeys, and may you feel His strength and presence with you every step of the way.
In Christ’s love, Lydia
