The Exchange of the Cross
Diabetes is a condition where the body struggles to properly manage blood sugar. It can feel overwhelming when doctors say, “This is lifelong.” But as believers, we must always bring every sickness into the light of God’s Word. Jesus has made a way for us to live above the curse of sickness, and diabetes is no exception.
Scripture declares, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). When your body is yielded fully to Christ, the Holy Spirit is free to manifest the resurrection life of Jesus in it. That means He can touch your blood, your pancreas, and your metabolism with divine power.
This is what the Gospel calls the “exchange.” “God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself” (2 Corinthians 5:19). On the cross, Jesus bore not only our sins but also our sicknesses. Isaiah 53:4–5 makes it clear: “Surely He has borne our griefs [sicknesses] and carried our sorrows… and by His stripes we are healed.” That means He carried the weight of diabetes, its complications, and its fears. And in exchange, He gives us healing, health, and life.
In Acts 3, when the lame man at the temple gate was healed, Peter said: “His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong… Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all” (v.16). The same Jesus who gave strength to lame legs can restore balance to blood sugar. The same name that gave “perfect soundness” then, still gives it now.
We should not accept the lie that diabetes—or any condition—is outside the reach of redemption. Yes, doctors and treatment plans are helpful, but the final word is God’s Word. Just as Lazarus was called out of the grave, Jesus calls you out of bondage to sickness. When you hear the voice of truth say, “Come forth!” you are being invited into new life.
Beloved, don’t let fear of statistics or medical reports dominate you. Instead, say, “My body is the Lord’s temple. I receive His exchange. By His stripes I was healed.” As you believe, His resurrection life flows into every cell.
The Power of His Name Over Diabetes
The early church knew something we must recover: healing glorifies the name of Jesus. After the lame man was healed, Peter declared, “God has glorified His Servant Jesus” (Acts 3:13). Healing is not simply about comfort; it is about Christ being exalted in the earth.
Diabetes is common, but God’s power is greater than statistics. In Matthew 14:35–36, when people heard Jesus was near, they brought “all who were diseased” and begged just to touch the hem of His garment. “As many as touched Him were made perfectly whole.” Notice—there were no exceptions. No disease was too complicated. No condition was too chronic. All were healed. That includes you.
In Acts 4:29–30, the disciples prayed, “Lord, stretch out Your hand to heal, and let signs and wonders be done through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.” They didn’t question whether it was God’s will. They prayed with confidence because they knew it always is. The same Jesus who bore our sins bore our sicknesses. Healing is settled in heaven.
Diabetes whispers, “This will get worse with time. You must manage it forever.” But God’s Word says, “With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation” (Psalm 91:16). Salvation here means rescue, wholeness, and deliverance. You are not destined to be overcome by disease. You are destined to glorify Jesus with a long, fruitful life.
Paul’s words in Philippians 1 remind us that even life and death are not random but subject to God’s plan. He said, “I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ… but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body” (vv.23–24). Paul knew he could choose to remain. Likewise, your body is not subject to diabetes—it is subject to the Spirit of God.
Healing often begins with bold confession. Say it aloud: “By His stripes I was healed. The name of Jesus makes me strong. My blood, my pancreas, my body functions in perfect soundness. I will live and not die, and declare the works of the Lord.” As you declare His Word, faith rises, and His healing power flows.
Remember: healing is not earned. It is received. It is a gift of grace to glorify Jesus. Lift your eyes today beyond the diagnosis and onto the Savior. His name is greater than diabetes. His cross is greater than your condition. His Spirit is alive in you, giving life to your mortal body. Believe it. Receive it. And walk in it.
