Lactose Intolerance and Healing Prayer: Finding Freedom and Wellness

What the Bible Says About Digestive Health and Freedom

“In the first place it is a life of absolute dependence. The branch has nothing: it just depends upon the vine for everything.” Lactose intolerance can make you feel painfully aware of your limits. You read labels, plan meals, worry about reactions, and sometimes feel tired of thinking about food at all. But this is exactly where the Lord invites you into a deeper, beautiful dependence.

If the branch tries to live alone, it withers. If you try to carry this alone, it’s exhausting. But if you cling to the Vine, moment by moment, you discover that “If you can learn every moment of the day to depend upon God, everything will come right.” Dependence isn’t weakness; it is the doorway to the higher life.

Divine healing takes place wherever the Spirit of God works in power. History shows believers who experienced real healings as the Holy Spirit moved among them. There are still promises about the outpouring of the Spirit that have not yet been fully seen. So we live in holy expectation, praying, “Lord, accomplish them in me – even in my digestive system.”

Remember: sickness is not an “angel” from God. In Scripture, the word translated “angel” or “messenger” always refers to a person – never a disease. Paul’s “thorn in the flesh” is described as “Satan’s messenger,” bringing buffetings, not a gift of sickness from a loving Father. God is not double-minded. Ephesians tells us to understand what the will of the Lord is: if it’s good, receive it; if it’s evil, resist it. Confusion about God’s will has turned many churches into a Nazareth of unbelief, where very little is expected or received. But the Bible says, “In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.” Witness one: in Job’s case, it was the devil who made him sick (Job 2:7). Witness two: Jesus went about healing, not making people ill.

So how do you cooperate with God in this very practical area?

  1. Feed on the Gospel that builds faith. In Acts 28, a sick man heard the Gospel and was healed – not by a special manifestation, but by his own faith from hearing. If we have the same Gospel, we can expect the same results. Let teaching about Jesus as Healer fill you more than stories of defeat.
  2. Use your words as seeds. If you have said for years, “I can’t eat that; I’ll be sick,” those words have helped shape your expectations. Now, gently but firmly, begin to say, “My body is learning to respond in line with redemption. The Lord is healing and stabilising my digestion.” You are not lying; you are agreeing with God’s redemptive will.
  3. Pray with bold, simple faith. It’s not in volume or sweat. It is in faith – no “ifs,” no “buts,” just, “Jesus, You are my Healer, and I receive Your life in my body.”

And while you are believing for full healing, know this: Jesus walks with you in every food choice, social event, and symptom. The Holy Spirit, the water of life, wants to flow out of you, not just to heal you, but eventually to make you a channel of hope to others with “hidden” conditions. You can learn to say, “I’m redeemed,” not just as a song, but as a steady confession over your body: Redeemed from fear, redeemed from confusion, redeemed from the curse – including this lactose intolerance.

Overcoming Dietary Limits Through Faith

“In Psalm 23, he said, ‘The Lord is my shepherd’… ‘I shall not want.’ He maketh me to lie down in green pastures…” A sheep only lies down when its belly is full and at rest. Right now, with lactose intolerance, your body can feel the exact opposite of “full and at rest.” After dairy, you might get cramping, bloating, nausea, gas, diarrhoea, or that dragging weakness that makes you say, “I just feel off.” You might even find yourself saying, “I can’t stand that, and I can’t eat that,” over and over.

But your Shepherd hasn’t stepped away from you because your digestive system is sensitive. He is still Jehovah-Rapha – “I am the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26). He did not say, “I was Jehovah-Rapha.” His name is not past tense. His redemptive name is “settled in heaven,” and no one has the right to change His “I am” to “I was.” Jesus did not change when your symptoms began.

Where did sickness come from? The Word is clear: “By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin” (Romans 5:12). Sickness is part of the package of death – it is not part of God’s beautiful, original design. In His original creation, there was no sickness. So lactose intolerance is not your identity from God; it is a symptom in a fallen world, faced by a redeemed child.

Jesus came as both your Sacrifice and your Example. As Sacrifice, He carried your sin and the curse. As Example, He went about healing “great multitudes,” and “He healed them there.” He then said that those who believe on Him would do the same works (John 14:12–13). He gave His disciples power and authority “to cure diseases” and sent them “to heal the sick” (Luke 9:1–2). Healing is not a side issue to Jesus – it is part of His heart.

So what do you do with a body that reacts to milk, cheese, ice cream, and so many “normal” foods?

  1. Refuse condemnation. You are not a “lesser Christian” because your stomach protests. You are loved, redeemed, and precious in His sight right now.
  2. Acknowledge the battle but side with the Word. It’s okay to say, “Right now my body reacts to lactose,” while also saying, “But I am redeemed from the curse of the law, and Jesus is my Healer.”
  3. Begin to shift your words. Instead of, “My gut is hopeless,” begin to say, “My digestive system is blessed. The Lord is restoring what is out of order.”

Your Shepherd took the beating so you wouldn’t have to. A really good shepherd will stand between the sheep and the wolf. Jesus stepped between you and the curse. He wants you healed and is willing to pay whatever it takes – and He already did at the cross. Let this be your starting point: I am not abandoned in this. The Lord is my Shepherd, and He cares about my gut, my food choices, my pain, my embarrassment, and my hope.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Healing Prayer : Finding Peace and Restoration

Scriptural Promises for Digestive Peace and IBS Healing

In Psalm 119:25, David cries, “My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken Thou me according to Thy word.” The word quicken means to bring to life, to revive, to restore vitality where weakness has taken hold. For someone battling Irritable Bowel Syndrome, this prayer reaches into the very core of the body—where discomfort, spasms, and inflammation seem to steal peace from within. IBS affects the place from which the body digests and distributes strength. Yet God’s Word promises that even there—deep within the body’s hidden places—He can bring life again.

David prayed this while feeling faint and low, his strength nearly gone. Many who suffer IBS know that same fatigue: the weary gut that twists in pain, the anxious nerves that churn like a storm, the sense of never being fully at ease. But God’s Word does not stop at the surface—it penetrates to the dividing of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and yes, even to the lining of the intestines. (Hebrews 4:12) His Word is alive, and the Holy Spirit uses it as His instrument of quickening.

James 5:15 tells us, “The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up.” This prayer is not begging—it is believing that we receive. (Mark 11:24) The Lord’s healing work flows not because we have done everything right, but because His mercy is great. Healing does not depend on human perfection but divine compassion. When you pray for your healing, don’t strive to convince God to act; believe that He already has. The blood of Jesus has already purchased your redemption from sickness (1 Peter 1:18–19).

To be quickened according to His Word means your entire being—body, soul, and spirit—is revived in alignment with His promise. As you read the Word, you are taking divine nourishment. Just as food becomes strength when eaten, so the Word becomes healing when believed. You may not understand every ingredient in what God feeds you, but once it’s inside you, it works.

Say aloud: “Lord, Your Word is medicine to my flesh. You quicken me according to Your Word.” Your digestive system was designed by God for peace and order, not torment and distress. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead flows through your inner being, calming spasms, balancing hormones, soothing nerves, and restoring normal rhythm. Faith rejoices, gives thanks, and is glad. Doubt despairs, complains, and is sad. Choose the voice of faith tonight: “Lord, You are quickening me—according to Your Word!”

Standing in Faith for a Restored Digestive System

Healing from IBS begins where true faith lives—in the heart. Romans 10:10 says, “With the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Healing works the same way. Confession precedes the manifestation. Speak over your body: “My digestive system is in harmony with God’s Word. I am redeemed from the curse. The peace of Christ rules my belly, my nerves, my hormones, and my thoughts.”

The enemy loves to stir restlessness in the inward parts, both physical and emotional. IBS often worsens with stress, fear, or frustration. But remember Jesus’ words: “Let not your heart be troubled.” (John 14:1) When your heart rests in Him, your body follows. The Shepherd restores your soul—and your gut, where many of the body’s nerves and emotions dwell. He leads you beside still waters. He restores your inner calm.

In Mark 11:24, Jesus said, “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Healing begins the moment you believe you receive—not when symptoms disappear. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). So, while your body still reacts with cramps or bloating, hold the Word before your eyes. Say, “The Word is healing medicine to all my flesh.” (Proverbs 4:20–22)

The Holy Spirit quickens every cell, nerve, and muscle. He renews the signals between your brain and your gut, commanding them to function in divine order. He silences the overactive response of inflammation and anxiety. As you yield to Him, your body begins to mirror your faith—peace replaces tension, rest replaces pain.

When the woman with the issue of blood touched Jesus’ garment, she didn’t analyze how healing would work—she simply believed that life flowed. That same life flows through you now. You are not striving for healing; you are receiving it. You are not under the law of sickness; you are under the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:2).

Tonight, whisper this prayer:
“Lord, quicken me according to Your Word. Heal my inner parts, calm the storms in my belly, and fill me with Your peace. I receive the life of Jesus flowing through every organ, nerve, and cell. My body is Your temple—restored, redeemed, and ruled by peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

The Good Shepherd feeds you, leads you, and keeps you. Stay close to Him. Faith rejoices, gives thanks, and is glad—because your healing has begun from the inside out.

Pancreatitis and Healing Prayer

“See It as Done: Faith for Healing”

Date: June 7, 2025
In the realm of divine healing, one of the most critical elements is the decision to believe that what God has promised is not only possible, but that it has already been accomplished in the spirit realm. This act of faith is not just wishful thinking; it is rooted in the unshakable truth of God’s Word. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” This means that faith sees the answer before the physical senses confirm it.

Chronic illnesses like chronic pancreatitis can challenge this faith because the symptoms are ongoing and often severe. Chronic pancreatitis, a condition where the pancreas becomes permanently damaged from inflammation, differs from the temporary swelling of acute pancreatitis. Sufferers often endure repeated episodes of severe abdominal pain, a reality that can seem to overshadow the promises of healing in God’s Word.

Yet Jesus, our Healer, invites us to see beyond what our physical bodies feel and to choose to believe His Word. In Mark 11:24, He says, “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Notice the sequence: believe you have receivedbefore you see the physical evidence. This is the heart of faith.

Seeing the Healing in Your Imagination
God created us with a powerful imagination, not to be used for vain daydreaming, but as a tool to cooperate with His promises. Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” This is why the Bible urges us to renew our minds and to meditate on God’s truth (Romans 12:2; Joshua 1:8).

When we face chronic conditions like chronic pancreatitis, we are not denying the reality of the disease or its symptoms. We acknowledge them, but we refuse to let them have the final say. Instead, we choose to fix our imagination on the Word of God, picturing ourselves as already healed because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross. Isaiah 53:5 declares, “By His stripes, we are healed.”

Consider how Jesus ministered healing in the Gospels. In John 5:5-9, a man who had been sick for 38 years lay by the pool of Bethesda. When Jesus said, “Rise, take up your mat and walk,” He didn’t offer a detailed plan or a medical explanation—He spoke a faith-filled command. The man had to choose to see himself walking before he felt his legs respond. His healing began when he believed what Jesus said and acted as if it had already happened.

The Power of Speaking and Acting in Faith
Romans 4:17-21 reveals Abraham’s journey of faith. God called him the father of many nations before he had any children. Abraham chose to believe “who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did” (v.17). Even though his body and Sarah’s womb were as good as dead, he grew strong in faith by giving glory to God, fully convinced that what God had promised, He was able to perform.

This principle applies to your healing today. You may be experiencing chronic pancreatitis, with its severe and repeated abdominal pain, but God’s promise remains: “I am the Lord who heals you” (Exodus 15:26). When you choose to believe that God’s healing power has already been released in your body, your confession changes. Instead of saying, “I’m so sick,” you begin to say, “Thank You, Lord, that by Your stripes I am healed.”

Healing Commands and Their Simplicity

Jesus’ commands for healing were simple and direct, such as “Be cleansed” (Mark 1:41), “Rise up and walk” (John 5:8), and “Be opened” (Mark 7:34). They were not elaborate or dramatic; they were straightforward and faith-filled. This demonstrates that healing is not about using the right words or spiritual formulas; it is about agreeing with what God has already done through Jesus.

In the same way, speak to your pancreas in Jesus’ name. Command it to be healed and to function normally. Command the inflammation to leave and the pain to stop. Say out loud, “In the name of Jesus, I speak life to my pancreas. I see it healthy, restored, and free from chronic inflammation. Thank You, Lord, that it is done.”

Guarding Your Imagination
One of the greatest challenges in maintaining this vision of healing is the battle in your mind. Chronic symptoms can be so persistent that they demand your attention, but Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things.” When thoughts of doubt and discouragement come, counter them with the truth of God’s Word.

For example, if your symptoms flare up and pain grips your body, don’t focus on the pain. Instead, close your eyes and see yourself whole and pain-free. Picture your pancreas as healthy, without inflammation or damage. Use your imagination as a canvas to paint the picture of what God’s Word says is already yours.

Corporate Faith and the Power of Agreement
There is also power in corporate faith. Jesus sent His disciples out in pairs (Luke 10:1), and He said in Matthew 18:19, “If two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.” If you’re struggling to maintain your faith vision alone, find a trusted friend or church leader to agree with you in prayer.

The local church is meant to be a healing community—a place where the glory of God is released as we pray for and encourage one another. Don’t isolate yourself in your battle against chronic pancreatitis or any other disease. Reach out to your spiritual family for agreement and support.

Letting the Holy Spirit Lead
Finally, remember that the Holy Spirit is your Helper and Guide. John 16:13 says He will guide you into all truth. In each moment of discouragement or pain, ask Him to strengthen your faith and to remind you of what God has already promised. He will also reveal any specific steps of obedience you need to take—whether that’s adjusting your lifestyle, changing your confession, or simply resting in His love.

Conclusion: Believe and Receive
Faith does not deny the existence of chronic pancreatitis or the severity of its symptoms. Instead, faith looks beyond them to the eternal truth of God’s Word. It chooses to believe that healing is not just possible—it is already accomplished in Jesus. It chooses to see the answer, speak the answer, and act like it’s done.

As you stand in faith for your healing, keep your mind fixed on Jesus, who is the Author and Finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Trust that He is faithful to complete what He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Let this be your declaration: “By His stripes, I am healed. I see it, I believe it, and I receive it—now!”

May God’s Word strengthen your vision, and may His healing power flood your body today. Amen.
