Overcoming Skin Cancer with Grace

The Shadow of Restoration: Receiving Your Free Gift of Wholeness

When you are navigating a diagnosis like skin cancer, the world can suddenly feel very heavy. You might be focused on a changing mole, a sore that refuses to heal, or a patch of skin that has become scaly and discolored. The medical journey often feels like a series of tasks, appointments, and burdens that you must carry. However, there is a profound spiritual reality that offers a different path: a path where the weight of “getting well” is lifted off your shoulders and replaced by an unearned gift of grace.

A Power That Requires No Effort

In the early accounts of the restoration movement, we see a level of power so phenomenal that even a shadow passing over a sick person was enough to release healing. There was no complex ritual required from the sufferer; they simply existed in the presence of a life-giving force. This reminds us that healing is not something you have to manufacture through your own strength or “goodness.”

If you have felt that you aren’t “good enough” to be whole, or that your imperfections have somehow disqualified you, let that thought go. We do not receive based on our own merit, but through the mercy of a High Priest who has already passed into the heavens on our behalf. Just as the sun shines on the earth without the earth having to earn the light, the gift of health is being extended to you freely.

The Will to Be Whole

Consider the account of the man who approached the Master with a skin condition that had isolated him from society. He didn’t ask if the power existed; he simply asked if there was a willingness to use it. The response was immediate and clear: “Of course I will. Be healed.”

This same willingness exists for you today. You do not need to wrestle with tradition or try to explain away the possibility of a miracle. Whether you are dealing with basal cell changes, melanoma, or any other growth, the heart of the Creator is toward your restoration. You are invited to “gambol like calves released from the stall”—to experience a joy and a lightness that comes when the “stall” of sickness is opened and you are set free to leap for joy.

“I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord.” (Jeremiah 30:17)

Removing the Responsibility from the Sick

One of the greatest misconceptions in recovery is that the sick person must “work” to get healed. This is a burden you were never meant to carry. In the same way that a shepherd leads his sheep to green pastures, you are being led. The sheep do not have to create the grass; they simply follow the voice of the one who provides it.

You can stop the “wrestling match” with your own doubts. If you feel weak, or if the symptoms of skin cancer—such as a pearly bump or a firm, red nodule—cause you fear, remember that your peace was bought at a high price so that you could have it for free. The “chastisement of our peace” was laid upon another, meaning your mental and physical tranquility is an inherited right, not a hard-won prize.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1)

When the scripture says you “shall not want,” it means you shall not lack. You do not lack the strength to finish your course. You do not lack the cellular restoration needed for your skin to become clear and healthy again. You do not lack the “mini resurrection” power that sustains your body until it is fully transformed.

A Table of Abundance

You are invited to sit at a table that has been prepared specifically for you. This table is not filled with “dessert” or “pie” for a select few; it is filled with the “bread” of life that belongs to every child in the family. You don’t have to push through a crowd or perform a task to earn a seat. You are called by name.

Expect a “mini quickening” in your immune system and your skin cells. Just as the shadow of old brought a point of contact for power, let this moment be your point of contact. Let the responsibility of the “how” and the “when” fall away. Your job is not to heal yourself; your role is simply to hold fast to the confession that you are cared for by a Good Shepherd.

“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.” (Malachi 4:2)

Walking in the Blessing

The choice has been made, and the blessing has been set before you. It is a flow of increase and help that enters your life not because of your perfection, but because of His promise. You are a “Jew inwardly,” a part of a covenant that guarantees victory and triumph.

Do not let the “Greek humanistic philosophy” of the world convince you that you must stay sick to somehow prove your character. There is more glory in your wholeness than in your suffering. The same power that raised the dead and cleared the skin of the leper is stretching forth its hand to you right now.

Expect the gift. It is free, it is unearned, and it is yours.

Healing Scoliosis: Understanding Grace and Whole Health

The Gift of Restoration: Your Body and the Grace of Whole Health

Living with the challenges of scoliosis can often feel like an uphill battle against your own frame. You may be intimately familiar with the persistent ache in your lower back, the uneven height of your shoulders, or that frustrating sensation of one hip sitting higher than the other. Perhaps you’ve dealt with the fatigue that comes from your muscles working overtime just to keep you upright, or the “misty” discomfort that radiates through your nerves when things feel out of alignment.

In the midst of these physical sensations, there is a profound truth that changes the entire landscape of your recovery: Healing is not a reward for your hard work; it is a gift.

Relinquishing the Burden of Effort

One of the heaviest weights a person carries during recovery is the belief that they must “earn” their wellness. We often think that if we just had enough strength, if we were “good enough,” or if we tried harder, we would see results. But the message of the Gospel is one of total emancipation from the “work” of getting well.

Think of it this way: when a child asks for a piece of bread, they don’t have to prove their worthiness to eat. Bread is a staple; it is fundamental. Healing has been called “the children’s bread.” It is not a luxury reserved for the “spiritually elite” or those who have reached a certain level of perfection. It is a basic provision provided by a loving Father.

You do not have to carry the responsibility of your own healing. Just as you did not have to pay the price for your own peace, you do not have to manufacture the power to mend your spine or nourish your bones. That responsibility was taken over and completed long ago. Redemption is an exchange—He took the weakness so that you could receive the strength.

A Quickening in the Bones

Even as you navigate the medical side of recovery, there is a “mini resurrection” available for your body right now. If the Spirit of life dwells within you, why wouldn’t He reach over and touch those joints, those vertebrae, and those overstrained muscles?

Consider the account of Abraham and Sarah. Physically speaking, their bodies were described as “dead” in terms of their ability to produce life. Yet, they didn’t look at their physical limitations as a reason to doubt the promise.

“He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.” (Romans 4:20-21)

Abraham’s body didn’t feel like it was capable of a miracle, but his feelings weren’t the judge of God’s ability. Your feelings—the pain, the stiffness, the “misty” sensation of nerve pressure—are not legal evidence against your healing. They are merely symptoms of a condition that is subject to change.

The Authority of Grace

We live in an age of incredible medical technology, yet there is a limit to what humanistic philosophy can offer. True wholeness comes from a “fullness of blessing” that touches the spirit and the marrow. You have been given authority over disease. This isn’t an authority you built yourself; it is an inherited authority.

When you feel the “swellings” of inflammation or the weakness of a recovering back, you can stand on the fact that your “emancipation proclamation” has already been signed. You are no longer under the dominion of physical brokenness.

“It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect.” (Psalm 18:32)

Notice that the scripture doesn’t say you arm yourself with strength. It says He arms you. He is the one who girds you. He is the one who makes the crooked places straight. When you realize that God is your “Jehovah-Nissi”—the Lord your Victory—the pressure to perform disappears. You are not fighting for victory; you are resting in a victory that was won for you.

Expecting the Unearned

Expect a free gift. This is perhaps the hardest concept for the human mind to grasp because we are trained to believe that nothing in life is free. But in the realm of grace, the best things are given, not sold.

If you have stayed away from the fullness of this promise because you felt “not good enough,” remember that the church and the promises of God are exactly where the “not good enough” belong. None of us are qualified on our own merit. We are made whole by His mercy.

“Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.” (Proverbs 3:7-8)

This “strength to your bones” is a literal promise for your physical frame. Whether it is the restoration of alignment or the soothing of your nervous system, it is a “cure” provided by the Master Physician.

A New Confession

Your recovery is not dependent on your “positive thinking,” but on your alignment with what has already been said about you. If He says you are strengthened, then you are strengthened. If He says you are being made whole, then you are being made whole.

Do not let the “Greek humanistic philosophy” of the world tell you that miracles are a thing of the past. The need for the manifest power of God is just as great today as it was in the early church. Your body is “God’s building,” and He is a master architect. He knows every curve of your spine, every ligament, and every nerve. He is not indifferent to your recovery; He is the source of it.

You can stop “patrolling” your symptoms and start resting in His provision. The “force field” of His protection and the “bread” of His healing are yours by right of being His child.

Take a deep breath and let the weight of responsibility fall off your shoulders. You don’t have to figure out how to get healed. You simply have to be willing to receive a gift that has already been bought and paid for. Your “mini resurrection” is starting in your bones, your joints, and your spirit today. Expect the unearned. Expect the supernatural. Expect to be made whole.

Healing Shingles: A Journey of Grace

The journey toward recovery can often feel like an uphill climb, especially when your body is weary from the fire of Shingles. You may be intimately familiar with the sharp, localized stabs of nerve pain, the exhaustion that settles deep in your bones, and the physical sensitivity of skin that feels as though it has been through a battle. In these moments, it is natural to feel that the burden of “getting better” rests entirely on your shoulders—that you must muster enough strength, enough resolve, or enough effort to pull yourself back into health.

However, there is a profound peace available to you today: the responsibility for your healing does not belong to you. Healing is not a wage you earn through your own stamina or a reward for your personal perfection. Instead, it is an unearned gift of grace, a “children’s bread” provided by a Father who delights in the well-being of His family.

The Great Exchange: Your Pain for His Peace

When we look at the foundations of restoration, we see a beautiful exchange that took place long before you felt the first symptom of illness. In the ancient texts, the prophet spoke of a servant who would take on the burdens of humanity. While these words are often translated as “griefs” and “sorrows,” the original language reveals a much more physical reality. The Hebrew words choli and makob literally mean “sicknesses” and “pains.”

“Surely he hath borne our sicknesses, and carried our pains: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.” (Isaiah 53:4)

This means that the nerve pain, the “scabbed” or irritated skin, and the “palsies” of discomfort you are experiencing were already carried by another. You are not trying to convince a distant Power to notice your struggle; you are simply accepting a gift that has already been purchased. Just as a gift placed in a loved one’s pocket belongs to them before they even see it, your healing is a finished provision waiting for you to simply rest within it.

Healing as a Free Gift of Grace

There is a common misconception that we must reach a certain level of spiritual “performance” to qualify for recovery. We ask ourselves, “Have I been good enough? Have I done enough?” But the reality of grace removes that pressure entirely. In the early days of the gathered community, miracles were not distributed based on the “law” or the “material” efforts of the people. They were a manifestation of the Spirit’s generosity.

“I ask then: when God gives you the Spirit and works miracles among you, why is this? Is it because you keep the law, or is it because you have faith in the Gospel message?” (Galatians 3:5)

The “law of the Spirit of life” is a force that works in the body just as naturally as nutrients from food provide strength to the flesh. You do not have to understand the chemistry of a meal for it to nourish you; you simply consume it. Similarly, you do not have to master the mechanics of divine restoration. You can be “fully possessed” by the peace of knowing that your Father is a rich Father who does not wish to see His children in “rags” or in “pain.” He is the Good Shepherd who leads you to good pastures—not because you found the way yourself, but because He is faithful to lead.

Rest in the Provision

If you are recovering from Shingles, you may feel “distressed” by the weight of the symptoms. Yet, history is filled with reports of “all the other sick people” coming and being cured—not because they were special, but because they heard the report and believed it.

The “arm of the Lord” is revealed to those who believe the report. And what is that report? It is the news that you are “ransomed,” “rescued,” and “redeemed.” You have been bought with a price, and that purchase includes the wholeness of your “complex being: body, soul, and spirit.”

“Therefore they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word… and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city.” (Acts 8:4, 7-8)

How to Receive Your Recovery

Expect your healing as a free gift. When doubt brings sadness or complaints, remember that faith is simply the act of being “glad” for a gift you haven’t fully unwrapped yet. You can look at the symptoms—the lingering stabs of pain or the fatigue—and say with confidence, “This does not belong to me.”

You are not “trying” to get healed; you are recognizing that the work is done. The responsibility for the transfer of that gift lies in the hands of the One who promised it. Your only “job” is to stay close to the Shepherd, to “listen to and recognize” the inner voice of peace, and to refuse the urge to water down the promise to match a temporary experience.

Recovery is not a mountain you have to climb; it is a river you choose to float in. Let the Spirit fill the entire range of your being today. You are cherished, you are covered by grace, and your restoration is a gift that has already been given. Take heart, be encouraged, and expect to see the goodness of life manifest in your flesh today.
