Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): Healing Prayer

Healing Is Already Paid For

Friend, let’s begin with a truth that never changes: healing is a part of redemption. When Jesus went to the cross, He did more than pay for our sins—He bore our sicknesses and carried our pains (Isaiah 53:4–5). We must never separate forgiveness from healing. The Psalmist says it plainly: “Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases” (Psalm 103:3). The two belong together like two sides of the same coin.

Now, let’s apply this truth to the swelling, throbbing, and heaviness of DVT. Those symptoms shout to you that something is wrong in your body. But God’s Word shouts louder. His Word says, “The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” That means the burden does not remain on you—it was laid on Christ.

Remember the nobleman in John 4. His son was dying, but when Jesus gave him a word—“Go your way; your son lives”—he believed the word before seeing a change. Later, his servants confirmed the healing had already begun. That’s how faith works. Symptoms may not vanish instantly. Sometimes, like Hezekiah, it may take three days before you feel strong enough to rise. Healing often begins beneath the surface, just as swelling may slowly recede. The Word goes to work the moment you believe.

So, when you see swelling or feel throbbing pain, don’t agree with it as your destiny. Instead, declare: “Jesus bore this for me. My veins are free, my blood flows as it should, my body is redeemed.” Redemption is not only about heaven later—it is health and strength now.

Friend, God does not get glory from His children struggling under the weight of disease. He gets glory when you rise above it, when your leg carries you forward without pain, when your skin regains its color, when the heaviness turns into lightness. That is when the world notices and says, “How did you overcome?” And you can point them straight to your Redeemer.

The Word Working in Your Body

In Matthew 8, we see Jesus healing all manner of sickness and disease. Nothing was too difficult—not leprosy, not paralysis, not fevers. Notice, too, that He often healed with a word: “Be clean.” “Arise, take up your bed.” “Go, your servant is healed.” That same Word is alive today. Hebrews 4:12 says it’s “living and powerful,” sharper than any sword, able to pierce even to the deepest part of you. That means the Word can reach the very veins where DVT tries to work.

Think about swelling. The body signals pressure, restriction, and blockage. But God promises the opposite. He says, “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him” (Isaiah 59:19). Just as swollen veins are under pressure, the Spirit pushes back with greater power, restoring flow.

Friend, you don’t need to fear clots, heaviness, or discoloration. The blood of Jesus has already broken every curse. In fact, His blood flows not only spiritually but with authority over your natural blood. He has made your body a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). What business does sickness have in God’s temple? None at all.

Here’s something important: healing is not only received once—it is maintained by faith. Paul told Timothy, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life” (1 Timothy 6:12). Sometimes you have to “lay hold” of healing and not let go, even when you still feel pain. Declare daily:

  • “The heaviness lifts in Jesus’ name.”
  • “The swelling drains because of the power of the cross.”
  • “Warmth and life flow through me, not pain and restriction.”

Do not measure God’s work by how you feel today. Measure it by His Word, which says you are healed. As symptoms fade—and they will—you will testify, just like that nobleman’s family, that the healing began the moment you believed.

So, be encouraged. Healing is yours. Jesus’ Word is working in your veins, in your blood, and in your body right now. Let faith keep you steady, and let your confession agree with heaven: “By His stripes, I am healed.”
