Bible Discussion on Healing: Trusting God in Times of Sickness

Acute pancreatitis is a serious condition where the pancreas becomes inflamed over a short period of time. The pancreas is a small organ located behind the stomach and below the ribcage. Most people with acute pancreatitis improve within a week and experience no further problems, but severe cases can have serious complications and can even be fatal. As we discuss healing, we will look at what the Bible says about God’s power to heal and how we, as believers, should respond to illness.
God’s Promises of Healing
Throughout Scripture, God affirms His ability and willingness to heal. One of the most well-known verses on healing is:
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)

Jesus never turned away those who came to Him in faith. The woman with the issue of blood, the blind man, the paralyzed man lowered through the roof—all were healed because of their faith. In the same way, we can bring our illnesses to Jesus through prayer, believing in His power to heal.
Faith and Prayer in Healing
James encourages believers to seek God in prayer for healing:
“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.” (James 5:14-15)
