Chapter 1: The Invitation
Luke adjusted his tie, glanced at the clock, and sighed. “Susan,” he called. His voice carried a mix of hope and uncertainty.
Susan, seated by the window, barely turned her head. “Yes?”
“I’ve been invited to speak at the Healing and Faith Conference in New Braunfels.” He paused, searching for the right words. “I want you to come with me.”
Susan raised an eyebrow. “Why? You know I don’t like crowds.”
Luke walked over and sat beside her. “It’s important. People need to hear about healing. About us.”
She shook her head. “You go. I’ll stay here.”
He leaned closer. “If you come, I’ll take you to Schlitterbahn. You’ve always wanted to go.”
A small smile crept onto her face. “Bribery?”
“Call it persuasion,” he said, grinning. “I promise it’ll be good. For both of us.”
She sighed. “Fine. But I’m not speaking.”
Luke nodded. “Fair deal.”
Chapter 2: The Request
The conference hall was packed. People murmured, waiting for the next session. Luke scanned the room, feeling both excitement and nerves.
“Susan,” he whispered. She sat beside him, fidgeting with her hands.
“What?” she asked, her tone guarded.
“I want you to join me on stage. Tell your story. It’ll inspire them.”
Her eyes widened. “Luke, no. I can’t do that.”
He touched her hand gently. “You can. Just five minutes. Share what happened, how faith and healing changed you.”
She looked away, her voice trembling. “What if I mess up?”
“You won’t,” he said firmly. “Just speak from your heart. They need to hear it.”
Susan hesitated, then nodded. “Okay. But only five minutes.”
Chapter 3: Susan’s Story
The spotlight felt blinding. Susan stood at the podium, gripping its edges. She cleared her throat.
“Hello,” she began. Her voice quivered, but she pressed on. “I never thought I’d be here, speaking to all of you. I’m not a public person. But my husband convinced me this story might help someone.”
The room fell silent.
“Years ago, I was in pain. Doctors couldn’t find the cause. I tried everything—medication, therapy, even alternative treatments. Nothing worked. Then Luke introduced me to something simple yet profound: God’s Word.”
She paused, her confidence growing. “I started reading scriptures about healing. At first, it felt like empty words. But over time, they became life to me. Slowly, the pain faded. Not overnight, but steadily. Today, I stand here, healed.”
The audience erupted into applause. Susan smiled, a mix of relief and pride.
Chapter 4: A Healing Example
Luke took the stage again. “Thank you, Susan. Your courage inspires me.”
He turned to the audience. “Now, let me share a specific example of healing.”
He walked across the stage, his voice steady. “A young boy in our community was diagnosed with a severe condition. His family was devastated. They asked for prayers, so we gathered around him, speaking words of faith and healing.”
Luke paused, letting the weight of the moment sink in.
“Every day, his family read healing scriptures aloud. They believed. After months of this, the doctors were stunned. The condition was gone. Completely healed.”
Gasps filled the room.
“It wasn’t magic. It was faith in action. God’s Word is medicine. It works if you take it.”
Chapter 5: Aunt Clara’s Miracle
Luke smiled as he stepped back to the microphone. “Before we end, I want to share one more story. This one’s personal.”
He glanced at Susan, who nodded encouragingly.
“My Aunt Clara was in her sixties when she got sick. The doctors said there was no hope. But Aunt Clara was stubborn. She refused to accept that.”
The audience chuckled softly.
“She started filling her days with scripture. Not just reading—living it. She’d say, ‘Luke, if God’s Word is true, then I’m not going anywhere.’”
He chuckled. “And she meant it.”
Luke’s tone grew serious. “Months later, she walked into the doctor’s office, and they couldn’t explain it. The disease was gone. Aunt Clara lived another twenty years, healthy and strong.”
The room erupted into applause again.
Luke raised his hand. “God’s Word is medicine. It’s for everyone. If you take it in, it will heal you.”
Epilogue
The conference ended with a standing ovation. Susan felt lighter, her fears replaced by a sense of purpose.
As they left the hall, Luke turned to her. “Thank you for speaking. You were amazing.”
Susan smiled. “You were right. They needed to hear it. And so did I.”
Together, they walked out into the Texas sun, ready for whatever lay ahead.
