The journey through physical challenge is often a path paved with questions, but it is also a landscape where the quiet strength of the spirit can flourish. When you are facing the daily reality of Rheumatoid arthritis—navigating the stiffness that greets you in the morning, the persistent swelling in your joints, and the fatigue that feels like a heavy weight—it is easy to feel as though your body is a territory under siege. Yet, there is a profound truth found in the consistent hearing of a promise.

Consider the simple, unwavering faith of a child. If a mother tells her little girl that she will receive a new dress next Saturday, that child does not wait until she sees the fabric to believe it is hers. Her faith is born the very moment she hears the word of her mother. She doesn’t need to understand the economics of the purchase or see the dress in the window; she simply rests in the reliability of the promise. In the same way, our confidence in restoration does not begin when the symptoms vanish; it begins when we settle our hearts on the declarations of the One who is the Father of mercies.

The Power of the Promise

Faith is not a feeling we manufacture to override our senses; it is the natural result of hearing truth until it becomes more real to us than our circumstances. For someone dealing with the chronic pain and inflammation of RA, the “natural” thing is to focus on the limitation. However, we are invited to a different perspective. We are told that our bodies are not just physical shells; they are temples, and the life that dwells within them is meant to be manifest even in our mortal flesh.

There is a restorative authority—what the Greeks called exousia—that stands above the “facts” of a medical report. This authority is backed by a mercy that is not a one-time event but a continuous, everlasting stream. To be “full of mercy” means that there is an abundance available for every area of lack, including the physical strength needed to move, to work, and to live with joy.

The Evidence of Redemption

When we look at the historical records of restoration, we see a consistent pattern: a Good Shepherd who does not desire his flock to be scattered or broken. Sickness is often described as a yoke or a burden, but there is an anointing—a specific divine enablements—designed to destroy those yokes. This is not a “someday” hope; it is a present-tense reality.

The scriptures provide a firm foundation for this expectation:

  • Exodus 23:25: “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.”
  • Psalm 107:20: “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
  • Psalm 91:16: “With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.”

These are not mere words on a page; they are “imperishable seed.” When a seed is planted and watered, it is its nature to grow. By “watering” these promises—thinking on them, speaking them, and refusing to let them slip—you are creating an environment where restoration can take root.

The Gift of Healing and the Anointing

In the community of those who walk by faith, there is a beautiful provision known as the gift of healing. This is a specific manifestation of the Spirit where the inherent power of God—the dunamis—is released to mend, to stitch back together, and to make whole what has been distressed. This gift is a reminder that the heart of the Creator is always toward wholeness.

If you are struggling with the “wasting” feeling that sometimes accompanies long-term illness, or the “plagues” of persistent inflammation, remember that you have been redeemed from these things. Redemption means “to buy back.” You have been bought back from the authority of sickness. If a debt has been paid, the bill-collector has no legal right to knock on your door. Likewise, when you understand your redemption, you can stand your ground against the symptoms of RA, knowing they do not have a permanent right to your body.

Strengthening the Inner Man

A physical attack often waits for a moment of weakness, trying to overwhelm the mind and spirit. This is why it is vital to build a “strong spirit.” A strong spirit acts as a shield. It is developed by “hearing and hearing” the Word. You don’t get established by hearing a truth once; you get established by the constant pounding of truth against the spirit until the walls of doubt crumble.

Think of the shepherd boy David. He was not a giant-killer because of his physical stature; he was a giant-killer because he spent his time in the fields watering the seed of God’s Word within him. His attitude toward the promise made him wiser than his teachers and stronger than his enemies. You have that same opportunity. Even when your joints are restricted, your spirit is free to soar, to confess, and to “say so.”

Moving Forward in Confidence

If the Good Shepherd came so that you might have life “more abundantly,” then any area of “want” or “lack” in your health is an area where His provision is looking to manifest. Restoration is not just about the removal of pain; it is about being “satisfied with long life” and being “restored in strength.”

Do not be discouraged by what you see or feel today. Faith is believing that the answer is provided before it is felt. Like the little girl waiting for Saturday, you can rejoice in the promise now. The anointing that destroys yokes is in you and on you. It is a force that terrifies the darkness because it brings the light of life into the very cells of your body.

Keep your eyes on the report of the One who bears our sicknesses and carries our pains. Vocalize your redemption. Say, “I am strong in the Lord.” Let every word of promise be established in your heart, for He is faithful who promised, and He is doing a work of mending and making whole even now.

Prostate Cancer and Healing: Standing in the Authority of the Word

A diagnosis of prostate cancer often brings with it a heavy cloud of uncertainty and physical challenge. You may be supporting someone who is currently navigating symptoms like frequent or difficult urination, a persistent sense of pressure, or deep discomfort in the lower back and hips. These physical markers can weigh heavily on a person’s spirit, but it is important to remember that a strong spirit will sustain a man through his infirmity.

Healing is not merely a historical event we read about; it is a current reality provided by the “I AM.” When God revealed His redemptive name as Jehovah-Rapha, He didn’t say “I Was the Lord who healed you.” He said, “I Am.” To believe that health is not for God’s people today is to attempt to change the very nature of the One who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

The Authority of the Word

We see a profound example of how healing operates through the account of the Centurion. He was a man who understood authority because of his occupation; he knew that when a command is given by a superior, it must be obeyed. He recognized that Jesus held supreme authority over all things, including sickness. His faith was so robust that he realized Jesus didn’t even need to be physically present to effect a change. He simply needed the Word to be spoken.

For someone facing prostate cancer, the “word” of a clinical diagnosis can feel final. While we respect the work of doctors and the natural reports they provide, we must be careful not to be affected by any voice more than the voice of God. If we attend only to the natural reports, our spirits can become weak and drained. We need the nourishment of the Truth to remain stirred up. Faith is not a passive waiting; it is a firm grasping of the will of the Lord.

Scripture 1: Hebrews 13:8

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”

Redemption from the Curse

It is vital to understand that sickness is part of the curse from which we have been redeemed. If Jesus went to such great lengths to hang on a Cross and become accursed to set us free, it cannot be His will for us to remain bound by it. He “tasted death for every man,” and that sacrifice was a perfect remedy for the whole person—spirit, soul, and body.

Just as a sinner must accept the promise of salvation as true before they feel the joy of being saved, a person seeking health must often accept the promise as true before the physical feelings align. Symptoms and challenges will attempt to wear you down, but you have been given authority. You can choose to get in the “middle of the high road,” recognizing that while challenges are real, you have been empowered to overcome them. We are not just heirs of a promise; we are in a better covenant established upon better promises.

Scripture 2: Galatians 3:13

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.”

Removing the Barrier of Condemnation

Faith has a primary enemy: condemnation. It is the “confidence killer.” If a person feels unworthy, or if they are harboring guilt and shame from the past, it chokes off their ability to believe that God hears them. This is why we often see spiritual restoration and physical restoration going hand in hand. To have the confidence to act on the Word—to “get up and walk”—one must first be convinced that they are clean and right before God.

The blood of the Lamb is the only thing that can purge a guilty conscience. Once a person realizes they are “made right by the Blood,” the curse has no legal right to remain in their life. They can then look up with total confidence and say, “Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed.” This confidence allows the life of God—His peace, purity, and strength—to flow through the body as a preserver of health.

Scripture 3: Jeremiah 17:14

“Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.”

Acting on the Promise

Many people believe they are waiting on God to move, but often, God is waiting for us to act on what He has already said. When God provides a promise, it is like a seed. For that seed to do its work, it must be put into the “good ground” of a heart that gives it diligent attention. We must refuse “old wives’ fables” and the tradition that says God uses sickness to teach us lessons. You will not find that anywhere in the ministry of Jesus. He never turned anyone away, and He never said, “I won’t.”

If you are encouraging someone today, remind them that they are “loaded with benefits.” Even if the natural world says a condition is hopeless or has reached a final stage, we serve the “Self-Existent One.” He is the strength of our life. Restoration may be a process that happens over time, or it may be a “now you see it, now you don’t” miracle, but the end result is always the same: wholeness.

Let the trumpet of “Jubilee” sound in your heart. Reclaim what has been stolen. Whether through the laying on of hands or the simple, quiet confidence in the Word, God’s heart is to make people whole. Stand firm, be faithful to where you are stationed, and expect the power of the Spirit to manifest health in every cell of the body.

What the Bible Says About Healing Lymphoedema

Your body was never designed to belong to swelling, heaviness, or pain. It was made to belong to the Lord. Lymphoedema may be telling you, “This is your new normal—this is just who you are now,” but that is not what Heaven says about you. Heaven says your body is a temple, not a prison.

You may know the symptoms so well: the tightness, the heaviness in the limb, the aching when you’ve been on your feet too long, the way clothes or shoes don’t fit like they used to, the skin that feels stretched, thickened, or tender, the constant watching for infection. These things are real. Faith does not pretend they are not real. Faith simply refuses to let them have the final word.

If you are going to live a long, full life—and you absolutely can—then somewhere along the way you will have to overcome things like this. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you are in the very place where the power of God wants to meet you. Healing is not an imaginary theory; it is a living reality. God has not changed. The One who raised Jesus from the dead has not become weak or distant in your case.

Your body is for the Lord, and the Lord is for your body. That means He cares when your leg feels like concrete by afternoon. He cares when you plan your day around compression, elevation, and fatigue. He cares when you’re tired of explaining why one limb is bigger than the other. He is not embarrassed by your swelling; He is moved with compassion by it.

You are not begging a reluctant God. You are agreeing with a willing One. When you say, “Lord, I believe You are my Healer,” you are not trying to talk Him into something new—you’re stepping into something He has already decided. He has already declared that He is your Physician, the One who takes your sicknesses and carries your pains.

So today, instead of staring only at the symptoms, look at Him. Imagine your limb, your lymph system, your skin, your tissues fully subject to Christ, offered to Him as His temple. He does not despise weak places; He fills them. As your body is yielded to Him, you are giving Him full freedom to manifest His power in you—cell by cell, vessel by vessel, day by day.

Say this, even if your feelings disagree:

“Lord, my body is Yours, not lymphoedema’s.
You live in me. You strengthen me.
You are the One who heals me,
and I agree with You today.”

Let this truth get so deep inside you that it “oozes out of your pores.” Let it shape how you talk, how you pray, how you answer when people ask how you’re doing. You are not just someone who has lymphoedema; you are someone who has a Healer living inside.

Standing in Faith Against Chronic Swelling and Pain

There is a beautiful pattern in Scripture: people look to God in their weakness and walk away different. People who were called “incurable,” “impotent,” or “hopeless cases” met the living Christ and went home carrying the beds that once carried them. The same Jesus has not changed His nature.

Lymphoedema tries to preach its own sermon: “You’re stuck like this. You will always be limited. Don’t expect too much.” But God’s Word preaches another message: He desires that you prosper in every part of life and “be in health.” That includes your lymph system, your skin, your circulation, your energy levels, your immune system. “All things” includes all of you.

There was once a crowd that brought all the sick to Jesus, and as many as managed to touch even the edge of His garment were made completely whole. Imagine that for a moment. Imagine standing in that crowd with your swollen limb, pushing through the people, just to reach out and touch Him. No long explanations. No medical history forms. Just one touch of faith—and perfect soundness in front of everybody.

This same Jesus is not physically walking past you on a road, but He is just as present by His Spirit. His name still carries power. People once looked at a man who had been completely changed and said, “We all knew how weak he was, but faith in Jesus has made him strong.” Let that be your story: “We all knew what she battled with, but faith in Jesus made her strong.”

Your part is not to figure out how God will heal. Your part is to believe that when you ask, He hears you. At a friend’s grave, while death still seemed to be winning, Jesus thanked the Father that He had already heard Him. You can stand in the middle of swelling, tightness, and fatigue and still say, “Father, I thank You that You hear me when I pray about my body.”

Looking at symptoms all day will drain your faith. Looking at Jesus will grow it. Like the people who once looked at the bronze serpent and lived, you look at the crucified and risen Christ and receive life for your body and peace for your mind. You may still feel heaviness, but you refuse to let the heaviness speak louder than His promise.

When doubts whisper, “Maybe this is just God’s mysterious will,” remember: Jesus never refused a single person who came to Him for healing. He revealed the Father’s heart perfectly. It is not rebellion to expect healing; it is agreement with Heaven.

So speak this over yourself:

“Lord Jesus, You are my Healer.
Your life flows in me like living sap in a vine.
Strengthen my limb, my lymph, my skin, my whole being.
I choose to look to You, not to my limitations.
I believe I receive healing, and I will not be ashamed of my hope.”

You are not alone in this battle. The Healer walks with you, works in you, and will sustain you as you keep trusting, keep looking, and keep expecting Him to do wonderful things in your body and in your future.
