Faith’s Testimony Opens Blind Eyes
When we speak about healing, we must remember that it always responds to faith’s testimony. Conjunctivitis affects the eyes, bringing burning, redness, and irritation that clouds clear sight. How much this mirrors the way unbelief and fear can inflame our spiritual vision! Yet the Lord has provided for both body and spirit through His Word. Disease, like sin, is defeated by the confession of faith. We must not let our lips agree with irritation or infection, but fill them with God’s promises of healing.
Proverbs 4:20–22 tells us: “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” Notice the connection to the eyes. When conjunctivitis burns or waters, the temptation is to confess irritation or hopelessness. But faith looks through the symptoms and holds steady to God’s Word: His promises bring health even to the delicate tissue of the eye.
Jesus showed us this in Matthew 12 when He healed the man with the withered hand. The religious leaders were more concerned about laws than compassion, but Jesus demonstrated that God’s kingdom overrules affliction. Just as He told the man to stretch out his hand, He calls us to act in faith and stretch out our confession. Healing does not come by passively waiting—it comes by believing, speaking, and acting.
Conjunctivitis is inflammation of the conjunctiva—the covering of the eye. Spiritually, the covering of our sight can be inflamed by irritants of the world, wrong teaching, or even unbelief. But 2 Corinthians 3:16 says, “Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.” Just as infection or irritation is removed by cleansing, so faith in Christ removes the veil that hinders our sight.
So, what must we do? Make your lips do their duty! Say what God says about your sickness. Say: “Jesus is my healer. My eyes are made to see clearly. Inflammation must leave because by His stripes I am healed.” Don’t let redness, watering, or itching dictate your confession. Speak life to your eyes.
Healing is not only about the physical—it is about restored vision. When conjunctivitis clouds your sight, remember that Jesus came to restore vision to the blind. Healing is always possible when faith holds its testimony. Disease cannot withstand the authority of the spoken Word.
The Compassionate Eyes of Jesus
The Gospels are full of stories where Jesus looked with compassion. Mark 10 records blind Bartimaeus crying out by the roadside. Others told him to be quiet, but he shouted louder, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” What did Jesus do? He stood still, called Bartimaeus, and asked, “What do you want Me to do for you?” He replied, “Lord, that I might receive my sight.” And Jesus said, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” Immediately, his eyes were opened.
Why is this story important for those struggling with conjunctivitis? Because it shows us two things: first, Jesus cares about the eyes. He heals sight. Second, healing comes as a response to faith’s confession. Bartimaeus refused to stop speaking. He confessed loudly, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” His faith testimony drew the compassion of Christ.
Conjunctivitis brings irritation—burning, itching, and discomfort. But Jesus’ compassion is greater than discomfort. Hebrews 4:15 reminds us, “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” Jesus is touched with the feeling of your infirmities. That includes irritation in your eyes. His love compels Him to act, and His power makes it possible.
The Book of Hebrews also explains that animal sacrifices could only cover sin, but Jesus’ blood removed it once for all. In the same way, ointments and drops may soothe temporarily, but the healing touch of Jesus removes affliction completely. That does not mean we despise medicine, but it means our faith rests in something greater—the finished work of the cross.
You must hold fast your confession. Some people lose their healing because they lose their testimony. They begin in faith, but when symptoms flare up—more watering, more burning—they say, “It didn’t work.” Beloved, faith holds on until the breakthrough comes. Say, “My eyes are healed. My vision is clear. Jesus bore my infirmities, and I receive His compassion today.”
Remember also the environment of healing. In Matthew 12, when Jesus healed on the Sabbath, religious critics were watching. But He didn’t let their hardness stop His compassion. Likewise, don’t let others’ unbelief stop your testimony. Healing belongs to you because Jesus purchased it.
The Holy Spirit, our Helper, is the One who makes Jesus’ healing real in our bodies. He executes the blessings of Calvary in us. That means today, in your room, you can invite Him to touch your eyes. Say: “Holy Spirit, apply the work of Jesus to my eyes. Remove this irritation and restore comfort.” He delights to do it.
Friend, conjunctivitis may inflame, but the fire of the Holy Spirit purifies. Hold fast to your confession. Healing is the children’s bread, and Jesus is still the same yesterday, today, and forever. Let His compassionate gaze be your comfort—and His healing power your testimony.
